Mr. John Kraus
Musical Director

In October 2011, John Kraus was appointed Music Director of the Clarington Concert Band. He is a graduate of the University of Western Ontario, with an Hons. B. Music Education and a Bachelor of Education degree.
John is presently the Head Music Teacher and Director of Arts at the Lakefield College School. He is a member of the CAMMAC summer music program. He was the founding Music Director of the Durham Chamber Orchestra and was conductor for the Lakeridge Philharmonic Youth Orchestra. He was also Conductor of Conference of Independent Schools Music Festival Wind Ensemble, Orchestra, Symphonic Band and Concert Band for Roy Thomson Hall

Glenn Ward - Music Director

Mr. Glenn Ward
Musical Director

In February 2005, Glenn Ward was appointed Music Director of the Clarington Concert Band, which continues to experience under his leadership. He is a graduate of the University of Western Ontario, with a Bachelor of Musical Arts and holds a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Toronto.

Glenn’s early musical training began in the Salvation Army where at age 16, he was the principal trombone of the London (Ontario) Citadel Band, which in 1976 toured England and appeared in concert at the Royal Albert Hall. He is a past Bandmaster of the Oshawa Temple Band of the Salvation Army and a former Musical Director of the Oshawa Civic Band. Since 1981, he has taught at R. S. McLaughlin C.V.I. in Oshawa where he is now the Head of the Arts Department. His school bands have travelled to Calgary, Vancouver, Edmonton, Orlando and the Rocky Mountain Music Festival in Banff, Alberta.

Along with his musical interests, Glenn is a lover of golf and hockey and resides in Bowmanville with his wife Cathie, their three daughters and the family dog named Freddie.

Mr. Scott Hall
Associate Director of Music

In October 2011, Scott Hall was appointed Associate Director of the Clarington Concert Band. He is a graduate of the Wilfrid Laurier University, with an Honours of Bachelor in Music Education. He has studied conducting with Michael Purvis Smith and Noel Edison.
Scott is presently the Head of the Music Department at Vincent Massey Public School and Principle Horn of the Clarington Concert Band. He has also been Principal Horn with the Northumberland Orchestra Society and was a Member of the Hart House Symphony Orchestra at U of T.
