Mr. Barrie Hodgins

Barrie Hodgins graduated with a Bachelor of Music degree and a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Western Ontario and had a full-time career as a music educator with the Durham District Board of Education.

His extensive military background includes 22 years as a member of the Royal Regiment of Canada Band and an appointment in 1991 as Director of Music for the Regimental Band of the Governor Generals Horse Guards.

An experienced conductor and adjudicator in his own right, Barrie is a very well recognized member of the local and national music community. In January 2013, he retired from the Oshawa Civic band after serving as its Musical Director for thirty years. He was also the Musical Director of the Clarington Concert Band from 1990 to 2005 and is a former President of the Canadian Band Association Ontario Chapter.

Barrie still maintains a very busy schedule, keeping his musical skills sharp on the trumpet and teaching private music lessons.
